Built from the inside out.
Meet J. Eckmann
A strategic advisor who understands
how messages actually land.
Jacquelyn Eckmann is a fractional CMO and strategic communications executive with deep experience helping organizations align their brand strategy, storytelling, and internal communications to build strong, trusted brands. By aligning leadership messaging, employee experience, and external storytelling, she helps organizations foster trust, engagement, and meaningful impact.
What sets her apart is a unique consumer-first perspective. She pressure-tests messaging against how real people actually receive and respond to it, helping leaders avoid costly missteps and create communications that truly connect, internally and externally.
With a career spanning nearly two decades, Jacquelyn has led integrated marketing and communications efforts across nonprofit, public-sector, and growing-brand environments, both as a full-time executive and as an agency owner.
Believing that strong brands are built from the inside out, Jacquelyn is known for building high-performing teams, strengthening organizational culture, and creating scalable systems that support long-term success.
HOW I WORK
Every engagement begins with understanding, not assuming.
The goal is always clarity, alignment, and sustainable progress.
1.
Listen

Before strategy comes understanding. I start by listening and developing a deep understanding of your goals, your challenges, and the gap between where you are and where you want to be. I look at what you're saying externally, what you're saying internally, and whether those things are telling the same story. Often, that gap is where the problem lives.
2.
Diagnose

Most assessments look at the messaging. I look at the systems carrying the messaging. Is your organization's leadership voice, internal communciations, brand, and external messaging operating as a connected system... or as seperate efforts pulling in different directions? I find the fractures before they cost you.
3.
Build

I start with internal alignment. Leadership messaging. Staff communications. The internal culture that either reinforces your brand or quietly contradicts it. Once that foundation is solid, external messaging not only becomes easier, it becomes true to the people carrying the message.
4.
Sustain

The goal isn't dependency, it's capability. To complement the strategy, I build systems, frameworks, and teams that keep working long after the engagement ends.

The result? An infrastructure that empowers the people that utilize it.
WHAT I STAND FOR
Grounded

I provide an outside perspective to the stories you're trying to tell and the products and services you're trying to sell. I have an innate ability to make recommendations that are pressure-tested against how real people actually receive and respond to messages.
Aligned

Marketing, PR, and internal comms must tell the same story. By aligning all three, employees and audiences both feel the truth of a brand.... and trust follows naturally and sustainably.
Empowering

The goal isn't dependency, it's capability. I build systems and teams that sustain long after the engagement ends. The work should outlast the engagement.
Honest

I ask the hard questions and I'll tell you what you need to hear - not what you want to hear. Because that's what trusted advisors do.
WHY FRACTIONAL
Senior leadership. Real flexibility. Immediate impact.

Hiring a full-time CMO commands $200,000 or more in salary and benefits. It can also take at least three to six months to find the right full-time fit. A fractional model gives you the same level of strategic experience at a fraction of the cost, with reduced risk, and without the long-term overhead.

But the fractional model isn't just about cost savings. You'll also get someone at the executive level working inside your organization: guiding strategy, aligning teams, and building infrastructure in real time.

Unlike consultants, I don't advise from a distance. I work inside your organization and leadership team - attending meetings, understanding your culture, and ensuring that recommendations don't just look good on paper; they actually work.
